Postcardly

Do you like to send postcards? I do, but with the cost of cards and the ever-increasing cost of postage I haven’t been sending them like I used to until I found Postcardly! It’s a very cool service that uses YOUR PHOTOS to create postcards to send to your family and friends.

All you need to do in advance is choose your plan and create your Postcardly email address book. You can add additional addresses at anytime. Three US domestic plans are available: a monthly $4.99 subscription for 5 postcards, a monthly 15 postcard subscription for $9.99 or a one time charge of $19.99 for 20 postcards. You can even send postcards to international addresses however they do count as 2 postcards against your postcard balance. If you choose to go with a monthly subscription and exceed your postcard balance, Postcardly still sends your postcards and charges just $.99 for each domestic card or $1.98 for international cards to your credit card.

The postcards look just like the photos I took! Even the glare — on the Catrina mural.

When you are ready to send your postcard all you need to do is access your account and select your recipient’s address, send the Postcardly address an email with your photo attached and the message to your lucky recipient. Messages should be no longer than about 100 words. If your photo didn’t attach, they will send you a WARNING email so that you can try again. Within minutes Postcardly will send you a receipt with a PDF copy of your postcard including your message.  Depending on how far the address is  from Postcardly’s office in Seattle, your card should arrive in less than one week!  Now, HOW COOL is that?

Even more COOL is Postcardly is giving away 10 free postcards to one lucky reader of this post!

This seems like cheating… the true post card is with a local stamp and an adventure to the post office in some foreign city… but I”ll enter ;-)

I’d most likely be sending all of the postcards from beautiful Panama, where I’ll be until October (on biz!).

    Cheers!

What a great idea! I would be sending postcards from beautiful Ireland. Ihave a wonderful collection of postcards sent by family members between 1900 and 1914. They read like facebook status updates and give a great insight into life at that time. I was amazed at how much traveling they did and also at how widespread and popular the ‘pc’ was back then. It would be lovely to see the tradition reinvented.

Thanks for this information, as a confirmed “postcarder” (ask the family), I appreciate it! And I’d like to send one from outer space, wouldn’t THAT be a kick for the recipient! Postmark: MOON!

Wow…we can’t remember the last time we sent postcards to our loved ones. There really is nothing like a handwritten note to say “I’m Thinking of You”. Thanks for sharing. Postcards are the équivaillent of Twitter in the past, don’t you think?

The most recent postcards in the past year were from Turks & Caicos, Las Vegas, Sydney Australia, Cape Town South Africa, Dubai, Switzerland, and my favorite…Antarctica! It’s been a whirlwind year but it’s always fun to send snail mail postcards from far away places. I’d love to send one from the Galapagos islands

I’d be sending postcards from the Balkans this summer – Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia.
