It’s a colorful or colourful #FriFotos today depending on where you are. My colorful photos come from a Thanksgiving trip to Wichita Falls, Texas where my parents took us around town to show us some of the 45 fiberglass horses from the 2007 Mane Event, a charity fundraiser. The horses were purchased by sponsors and decorated, then went to auction raising $144,000 for local charities. These works of art currently add beauty around the city where they can be found in front of generous businesses who were lucky to have the winning bids. Here is a link to all of the colorful horses.

My hometown held a similar event with park benches. In Anchorage we saw colorful salmon decorating the streets and in New Glarus, Wisconsin, there are cows, in Chicago we found bulls. Do your streets feature colorful works of art from a charity fundraiser? Please tell about places you have visited and what they display.
** In preparing this post I learned recently one of the colorful horses was stolen and destroyed. What a shame!

Those designs are amazing – what a great idea
Reminds me of similiar events in Europe. Eg there were painted cows in Salzburg and painted lions in Munich. Thanks for the interesting photo set.

Those are quite the horses! They did a similar project with moose in Toronto a number of years ago. Thanks again for inviting me back to #FriFotos. Always a great time co-hosting!

What great horses and I love the boots. Hope they raised a ton of money.

There’s a lot of things about Texas that I will never understand. Painted pony statues are not on of them.
