If you are like me and not particularly fond of the big party boat scene, Rissalena Sunset Cruise is a MUST DO in Los Cabos. To me, no beach vacation is complete without some time on the water, especially at sunset. We hopped into our National rental car and drove from Dreams Los Cabos to the Puerto Paraiso Mall in Cabo San Lucas. If you don't have a car, any taxi driver will be able to take you there. The mall has all kinds of shopping, dining options and movie theaters, just like the malls at home and it's open from 9am-10pm. We parked across the street, however the Mall does have a parking garage and valet parking. After a bit of shopping, Mr TD would tell you it was more than a bit, we asked for the mall exit to the Marina. It was easy to find the Rissalena as it has the most coveted slip (at time of writing), the first one!
You will need to confirm your reservation the day prior to sailing. Preboarding begins 30 minutes prior to cruise time. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to get a drink at if you come early, but don't be late! The sunset cruise includes open premium bar, wine, soft drinks, bottled water and dinner.
The captain, Eduardo and his crew couldn't have been more cordial. We left the Marina sailing over to the Medano Bay to see all the fancy yachts, over to Lovers Beach where the sea lions often sunbathe and to the highlight of Los Cabos, El Arco- the famous arch. There is plenty of beautiful scenery to capture post card like photos. The crew is more than happy to take photos of you with your camera in front of the arch and anytime during the cruise.
The delicious buffet of BBQ ribs, chicken, rice, salad, chips, guacamole and salsa is served after the sunset. If you leave hungry or thirsty, it's your own fault! You will want to bring tip money- the crew does a FAB job, sunscreen and your camera for sure!
The Rissalena is a 37ft motorized catamaran and has a bathroom below the deck but please, don't flush paper- there is a waste can for that. There is plenty of comfortable seating both covered and in the sun. Seating is limited to just 24 passengers and the sailings fill up fast! Reservations are a MUST DO. The Rissalena also offers Breakfast Bay Tours, Snorkeling Cruises and Whale Watching Tours- in season. The Rissalena is also available for private charters.
We had such a nice time, I cant believe I forgot to take a photo of the Rissalena! Now I have a reason to go back to Los Cabos and sail on the Rissalena, as if I needed one
