Cancun has loads of attractions. 5 top attractions are the beaches, Tulum, cenotes, Isla Mujeres, and Chichen Itza.
El Garrafon is a fantastic park to visit when you go to Isla Mujeres (Island of Women). We enjoyed snorkeling, relaxing by the pool, a walk through the modern art Sculpture Garden and zip lining. We met a really sweet Mexican family–4 generations, who were on vacation also. They invited us to have breakfast with them. It was the first time I realized Mexicans vacation too! Silly, I know. I just never thought about nationals going on holiday before, especially doing "touristy" things. I don't know why! All I do know is, it was a fun and enlightening day.
There's never a dull moment at El Garrafon with kayaking, a Mayan temple to explore, swim with the dolphins experiences and island bicycle tours.
There are several packages -all include:
- ferry ride from Cancun to Isla Mujeres, including dock and reef fees
- breakfast on the ferry
- lunch on the island
- open bar on the ferry and island
- life jackets
- snorkel equipment
- use of kayaks
- pool and hammocks
- showers and lockers
Bring a towel, shopping money and be sure to use biodegradable sunscreen to protect the reef and sea life. It really does make a difference!
I guess I should add, Mr. TD enjoyed zip lining over the water, I enjoyed watching him!
Have you been to Cancun or the Riviera Maya?
There's so much to do in the area. What attractions or tours did you do?

Hi,I am very impressed with this post and agree with your point of view, and I would like to say that, there are lots ofattractions in riviera maya.Tulumbeachfrontvilla is a great place to experience attractions in Riviera Maya; you would get to see turtles hatching just outside your own independent villa and many more.
My top 5 attractions are:
1) Akumal beaches
2) Xcaret Park crossing PLaya del Carmen
3) Snorkelling in Puerto Morelos
4) Sailing in Puerto Aventuras
5) Water Park in Cancún
It is incredibly beautiful! Thanks for your comment!
There are so MANY great places to go, I will just have to keep coming back!
I love the water in the Yucatan. I have been to Isla Mujeres so many times – .amazing! And great snorkeling.
Nice list! I'll add also:
1) Río Secreto Nature Park, a system of underground rivers and caves were you can walk and swim.
2) Holbox, a small fishermen island in the northern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula that still offers a peaceful getaway for its visitors. People move around walking, in bicycles or in golf carts
3)The brand new, Cancun Underwater Museum is a collection of underwater sculptures that were immersed last year by the British artist, Jason DeCaires Taylor. A must-visit place for all visitors!
Hope you find this ideas useful too!
